The purpose of the Regional Fish Sales Promotions is to improve access to affordable fish and fish products by extending the Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust’s distribution footprint beyond its established fish shop network.
These promotions are designed as outreach sales initiatives, specifically targeting areas where the Trust does not have permanent retail presence. By bringing fish directly into underserved towns and communities, the promotions serve as temporary sales points that ensure equitable access to quality fish products across all regions of the country.
Importantly, Regional Fish Sales Promotions are not conducted in towns where NFCPT fish shops already exist. This ensures that the initiative complements, rather than duplicates, the Trust’s existing retail operations. To maintain consistency and affordability, all fish products sold during these promotions are offered at the same prices as those available at NFCPT fish shops.
Through this approach, the promotions aim to:
-
Extend accessibility of fish to remote and underserved communities;
-
Ensure equitable distribution of affordable fish products nationwide; and
-
Support increased fish consumption by reducing geographical barriers to access.
Ultimately, the Regional Fish Sales Promotions play a vital role in fulfilling the Trust’s mandate of making fish accessible and affordable to all Namibians, regardless of location.
